Getting off psych meds is just as hard – often harder – than quitting alcohol, oxycontin, crack, cocaine, or any other chemical addiction.
We’ve been taught to think of psych meds differently. But we shouldn’t be.
Because they’re just chemicals having chemical effects that your body is adapting to. And we all know that that chemical effect is not going to endure.
Then there’s going to be a cost. All you have to do is Google antidepressant withdrawal or benzodiazepine withdrawal, and you’ll see what I mean.
It’s like if you have glass in your foot and instead of taking the glass out…
… Your doctor just puts a bandaid on it, gives you a Tylenol and says:
“Okay, get outta here.”
You’re not fixing the problem.
Because the root causes of your symptoms are going to keep manifesting in other ways. Then when you finally try to get off your meds, it’s going to feel like a relapse…or worse.
But there IS a better way.
